El equipo de José Luis Rubio Camargo y Josué Gastón Gaxiola Leyva representarán a México en la disciplina de voleibol de playa en los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio, el próximo mes de julio, así lo dio a conocer Ciria Salazar, directora general del Instituto Colimense del Deporte.
La titular del deporte detalló que luego de que México lograra la plaza olímpica durante la Final de Copa la Copa Continental de Voleibol de Playa Norceca 2021, este lunes 28 de junio se definió en un juego al equipo que representará a las y los mexicanos en Tokio, después de los aztecas Luis Rubio y Josué Gaxiola ganarán a sus compatriotas Juan Virgen y Lombardo Ontiveros México 2-0 (21-19, 21-21-17).
Con respecto al triunfo y la clasificación a Tokio, José Luis Rubio, jugador del equipo de México señaló sentirse feliz por haber conseguido el pase a Tokio, ya que se ha trabajado durante muchos años para lograrlo; dijo que es muy importante llegar, a unos Juegos Olímpicos, “estoy muy agradecido con cada uno de las y los mexicanos que nos vinieron a apoyar, vamos a darle ya que queda muy poco tiempo para prepararnos y darlo todo en la justa olímpica”.
Por su parte, Josué Gaxiola, dijo que este triunfo es el sacrificio de tantos años “aquí está la recompensa de este pase a los Juegos Olímpicos, esto no se acaba aquí, aún vamos por más; vamos a definir con nuestro entrenador, cuál será el trabajo que haremos”.
Asimismo, Juan Virgen, comentó que, evidentemente no es lo que se quería, pero se luchó hasta al final, “hay que ver el lado bueno, ya que México estará en Juegos Olímpicos, hay que apoyar a quienes nos representarán”.
Por último, Lombardo Ontiveros, señaló que es muy importante para el equipo mexicano, ya que es un trabajo de años que hoy culmina, y que a pesar que el clima no ayudó para jugar el voleibol de playa, se salió adelante logrando la plaza a Tokio.
