¿Qué papel ha jugado la prensa corporativa y, en todo caso, cuál debe ser el rol de los nuevos medios digitales frente a problemas como el narcotráfico?, le pregunta el ‘héroe de Sin Censura’ y periodista de investigación Francisco Cruz al coordinador de edición de Contralínea impresa, Zósimo Camacho.

Frente a una realidad tan compleja, la crisis de credibilidad que sufre la vieja prensa coincide o ha sido determinada por la aparición de plataformas informativas que, más allá del ámbito de las redes sociales, emergen como espacios mediáticos donde –como ocurre en Sin Censura y Contralínea– tienen cabida todos los géneros periodísticos: la crónica, el reportaje, los análisis…

El autor de libros como El Cártel de Juárez (Temas de hoy, 2008) o Tierra narca (Temas de hoy, 2010), es el último fichaje de la plataforma creada por Vicente Serrano. Y la conversación con Zósimo Camacho, uno de los productos de esta asociación entre Sin Censura y la revista Contralínea que dirige Miguel Badillo. A Cruz le inquieta saber si los nuevos medios que no acaban de llegar perpetuarán los modelos de la vieja prensa que no se acaba de ir, por ejemplo en el encubrimiento del narcotráfico.

Para Camacho, “los viejos medios de comunicación –esa prensa mayoritariamente corporativa que dominó todo el siglo XX y hasta parte del XXI– fueron siempre una extensión del poder político… y como tal se comportó siempre. De hecho, en México tuvimos durante mucho tiempo una prensa mediocre, precisamente como producto de esa subordinación al poder político”.

Los medios nunca se concibieron como una instancia para vigilar, cuestionar o criticar al poder político, tal como era función de la prensa. Como extensión que eran. se plegaron. Y si el poder político tuvo en determinados momentos esta alianza con ciertos carteles del narcotráfico, ese mismo vínculo se trasladó a los medios de comunicación.

MODELO AGOTADO

El nexo fue sobre todo de tipo informativo: “a veces [los narcotraficantes] eran motivo de primeras planas o de noticias por ahí perdidas”, siempre como nota roja y no como periodismo de investigación. No se investigaban las razones de la violencia del narco o temas como el financiamiento y el lavado de dinero generado por estos grupos de la delincuencia organizada, describe Zósimo.

Los medios de comunicación, de hecho, estuvieron prácticamente ausentes en la guerra contra el narco. No cubrieron realmente el combate ni la emergencia del narcotráfico en la sociedad mexicana. Publicaban nota roja y, en ese formato, sólo contaban muertos y desaparecidos o el número de desplazados.

Por supuesto, hay que tener esos datos, admite Camacho. Pero si queremos ir al fondo de las causas, en esa prensa no vamos a encontrar nada. Cabe recordar que hubo sendos pactos de silencio en dos momentos del sexenio de Felipe Calderón, para que no se hablara del tema.

En contraste, hoy vemos a esa misma prensa cubrir cualquier hecho violento maximizando los efectos en la psicología social. Pero se siguen quedando en la anécdota y el susto. Esto es, apenas en los alcances de la nota roja, sin profundizar en el fenómeno delictivo.

Ese trabajo de profundización sí lo hemos visto en otra prensa que va emergiendo. Por ejemplo en las piezas periodísticas de Francisco Cruz, considera Camacho. No pocos de los nuevos medios de comunicación, incluso del interior de la república, han sacado investigaciones importantes.

Los viejos medios de comunicación ya no tienen mucho qué decir u ofrecer. Si están ahí es por el dinero y por la inercia que traen, pero “creo que ese modelo está agotado y vive sus últimos años”.

PERIODISMO INDEPENDIENTE

También escritor de Las concesiones del poder (Temas de hoy, 2011), AMLO. Mitos, mentiras y secretos (Temas de hoy, 2012), Los Golden Boys (Temas de hoy, 2012) y Los amos de la mafia sindical (Temas de hoy, 2013), además de coautor junto con Jorge Toribio Cruz Montiel de Negocios de familia. Biografía no autorizada de Enrique Peña Nieto y el Grupo Atlacomulco (Temas de hoy, 2009), Francisco Cruz tiene una sólida carrera en los medios.

El hoy conductor colaboró en el periódico Reforma como gerente de información política de Infosel; en El Universal fue director de contenidos del portal de Internet; en Diario Monitor fue coordinador general de información y, hasta octubre de 2007, editor general del periódico El Centro. En 1997, Francisco Cruz recibió la Presea Estado de México José María Cos en periodismo.

En la emisión del 25 de mayo de Sin Censura Presenta (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHriDv6fUTU; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOBawUKECU0), Cruz coincidió con Camacho en que ese viejo modelo de prensa está agotado, y la prueba es que “yo mismo he optado por venir a las nuevas plataformas informativas donde hay otra gente y nuevas formas de ver las cosas”.

Es el caso de Contralínea donde además de la pluma de Zózimo Camacho destaca la de Nancy Flores, coordinadora de Investigación y Edición Web. Del director Miguel Badillo, dice el veterano Francisco Cruz, es “un periodista viejo” pero a la vez “joven” y “sólido” que ha impulsado el periodismo independiente.

BRAZO JURÍDICO Y MEDIÁTICO

Una de las investigaciones más recientes dadas a conocer por Contralínea revela el monto de las donaciones que, tanto fundaciones y agencias de los Estados Unidos como empresarios del país, han venido haciendo a Mexicanos contra la Corrupción y la Impunidad (MCCI), la organización no gubernamental creada por Claudio X. González Guajardo y dirigida por María Amparo Casar.

El empresario no sólo aspira a la Presidencia de la República sino que, ante todo, es el líder moral de los partidos políticos de oposición y de los empresarios opuestos al actual gobierno. La estrategia de este frente partidista-empresarial se basa en la labor de MCCI, brazo jurídico y mediático de esos grupos opositores, abunda Flores.

El reportaje de Contralínea evidencia de dónde provienen los 48.9 millones de pesos entregados en los primeros tres años del gobierno del presidente López Obrador por la Embajada de Estados Unidos a MCCI. Miguel Badillo y Nancy Flores conversaron con Vicente Serrano en Sin Censura TV sobre los recursos que ha recibido esa onegé tanto de la USAID (Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional, por sus siglas en inglés) como de consorcios mexicanos.

Por ejemplo, por la vía de la Fundación Kaluz el empresario Antonio del Valle Perochena –presidente de las juntas directivas de Mexichem, banco Ve Por Más (Bx+) y cementos Elementia– financia a MCCI y a otras asociaciones opositoras al gobierno de López Obrador, como el Instituto Mexicano para la Competitividad (IMCO) y México Unido Contra la Delincuencia que encabeza Josefina Ricaño Bandala, revela Contralínea.

Y con recursos extraídos de la Fundación Maelva, el empresario Valentín Diez Morodo –miembro de los consejos de administración de Banamex, Kimberly Clark, DESC, Multivisión MVS, Grupo Alfa, Grupo Ferroviario Mexicano y Avantel– donó 15 millones de pesos a MCCI en el primer trienio de López Obrador, con los cuales se financiaron parte de las campañas negras orquestadas por Claudio X. González contra el gobierno federal, las decenas de amparos a favor de la reanudación del aeropuerto en Texcoco y la estrategia legaloide contra el Felipe Ángeles.

La investigación de largo aliento se tradujo en un reportaje que en Contralínea “vamos a ir publicando por partes, ya que es demasiada información la que conseguimos” respecto a quiénes están financiando la guerra sucia contra Andrés Manuel López Obrador, dice Flores en la emisión del 18 de mayo de 2023 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lFCg33I1ds).

NEGOCIOS DE FAMILIA

Como líder moral del bloque opositor, Claudio X. González articula a intelectuales, periodistas y dirigentes de partidos, imprimiéndole a la reacción un odio irracional a López Obrador. Como dice Badillo, Andrés Manuel sí tiene enemigos: para ellos, fue terrible que López Obrador llegara a la presidencia ya que perdieron el control que tuvieron de este país durante muchos gobiernos, por lo menos desde el periodo de Carlos Salinas de Gortari cuando Claudio X. González Laporte (padre de González Guajardo) fue asesor de la Presidencia.

Esa élite empresarial de la que ambos forman parte tomaba decisiones junto con los presidentes en turno, priístas y panistas, lo mismo respecto hacia dónde orientar las políticas públicas que a quiénes favorecer con los contratos. Con Ernesto Zedillo vimos cómo el Fobaproa se usó para salvar con dinero público a banqueros y empresarios. Ellos saquearon los bancos reprivatizados, extrayendo créditos incobrables antes de vender la banca nacional a extranjeros, y dejaron comprometida a la población a pagar por generaciones esa deuda pública.

Impedir el cambio en 2018 fue el reto, pero fracasaron. A año y medio de que concluya este sexenio, ya no están apostando a quitar a López Obrador sino a presionar a la próxima presidenta o presidente de la República para que devuelva a políticos, empresarios y dueños de medios de comunicación sus viejas canonjías, como el privilegio de robar recursos públicos, desviar dinero del erario y obtener contratos para construir carreteras o, mejor dicho, ser intermediarios de esos contratos porque ni siquiera operaban las concesiones que fueron otorgadas hasta para manejar reclusorios.

GUERRA DE NARRATIVAS

Los empresarios siempre ejercieron esas presiones sobre los gobernantes, pero en este sexenio no han podido y por eso están tan enojados, apunta Badillo.

El director de Contralínea coincide con el presidente López Obrador en que la protesta es legítima y lo mejor es que se haga de manera abierta y pública, como pasó en las marchas en defensa del INE o la que se convocó para defender a la Corte, a que haya violencia política y, en el futuro, ajuste de cuentas contra funcionarios de la actual administración.

A estas alturas, añade Nancy Flores, ya ninguno de los empresarios que han aportado financiamiento a MCCI puede alegar que no sabe en qué se está invirtiendo su dinero: no es sólo para pagar oficinas, computadoras y traslados del personal, sino también para comprar información y hasta para cubrir los sueldos de reporteros a quienes envian a hostigar al hijo del presidente en su domicilio particular.

Hay una clara relación entre la narrativa de empresarios como Valentín Diez Morodo que, en el Consejo de Administración de Banamex al cual pertenece, declaró en 2021 que estaba muy mal la economía, y los textos que factura MCCI criticando el manejo discresional del presupuesto de egresos, los supuestos subejercicios o el subsidio a Pemex. Sin embargo, pronto se les hizo viejo ese relato. La cúpula empresarial –a la que pertenecen magnates como Carlos Slim– acaba de reconocer en una reunión que México va bien.
